Our DJs

Jaegerossa

Jaegerossa are Chris Hunter & Phil Rose, two of our residents and old friends.

They DJ, make beats and also host a weekly radio show on Grant Nelsons D3EP Radio Network www.d3ep.com.

Inspired in 1983 watching the likes of a young Greg Wilson on ‘The Tube’, and seeing Chad Jackson setting a mixing world record on ‘Blue Peter’, Chris Hunter was determined to be a DJ. Chris worked with long time DJ partner Jamie Lloyd, who became residents at Preston’s legendary Cheeky Monkey. They enjoyed other great residencies at Free 2 Dance, Green, Feel, and played numerous times for Cream’s 10th Birthday Tour, and at Bed as well as guesting internationally. They later made their own production debut as Da Mentalistz with ‘Da Mash Up EP’ signed to Phat Phil Coopers “Northern” imprint.  In May 2002 Chris became Label Manager at Shaboom Records, involved in releasing cuts from DJ Sneak, Doc Martin, Blakkat, Josh Wink, Onions & Joeski, among many others.  When Chris and Jamie split, he continued to hold residencies and guest appearances at Hush and Revolution (Preston), Modo (Liverpool) Bed (Sheffield), Misdemeanours and The End (London). Alongside house, Chris’ roots are firmly planted in Disco, Northern Soul, Rare Groove, Jazz and Funk. He’s a long standing member of both the Philosophie  and the Sunday Soul Collective’s (later Supafly), opting to playing funk based beats under his Kenny Jaeger alter ego.

Phil Rose is from a musical family and is the youngest of three brothers – a virtuoso pianist and a superb bass player. Phil discovered House Music in the mid Eighties from his fascination with the counter culture, buying his first 12″ House record Krush ‘House Arrest’ which led to a life long love affair with the genre. Phil’s DJ career began in his hometown of Chorley, Harrys Bar (1992), later he headed off to the sun-kissed shores of Ibiza (1994-95), where he played across the island including the then new Kanya Café and had his own night at Play2. On returning to the UK, Phil enjoyed many great residencies from the legendary Federation (Blackpool), Fusion (Harrogate), Emporia and Circa Loco (Manchester), as well as guesting at big events such as Ultima, Coco Loco and Love To Be.

Jaegerossa are currently causing a bit of commotion with their latest single featuring the vocals from K Klass’s Bobbi ‘Move Your Body’ which premiered as a World Exclusive with Pete Tong on Radio 1 and will be released February 23rd on Favouritizm.  2015 has gotten off to a busy start as they have also just finished reming a new project for Richard Earnshaw, and also another remix for Robert Clivilles & Eric Kupper with Chic vocalist Kimberly Davis entitled Set Me Free.
